Children's Ministries

At Lakewood, we believe that all children are made in the image of God, and that they are an important, invaluable part of our church family. Children grow into their faith by worshiping alongside the adults in their lives, and we would be honored to partner with you in building a foundation of faith that will endure as they grow into vibrant, faithful disciples of Jesus. All adult volunteers are MinistrySafe certified, and your child’s safety and well-being are their top priority.

 

For Children Under 3
You are welcome to bring your child into services with you, or we have a nursery with a paid, trained staff member who will provide love and care while you attend Sunday School or worship in the sanctuary. If you choose to utilize the nursery, please bring diapers, bottles, pacifiers, or soothing items (such as a blanket or lovey) labeled with your child’s name. Our nursery has some things for your child’s use, but nothing replaces comfort items from home. Please leave your phone number with our nursery staff so that we can contact you in case of an emergency.

 

For children ages 3 through 5th grade
Your child is welcome to worship with you and the rest of our congregation. Midway through the service, they will be invited to the front of the sanctuary, where they will hear a children’s message just for them from Ashlee, our Director of Children’s Ministries. Immediately afterward, they are invited to exit to the chapel next door, where they will build community with other children, learn the stories of our faith, and explore ways to practice faith in their lives. Children will dismiss back to the sanctuary during final announcements and on first Sundays, will return in time to receive communion with you if so desired.

 

Lakewood has a variety of events just for children throughout the year, including:

• Palm Sunday Easter egg hunt, with special appearance from Easter Bunny

• Vacation Bible School, July; theme: Camp Firelight

• Trunk or Treat, October 31

• Advent Workshop
